BIO / CV

Lara Whitley is Colorado-based visual artist. Known for her sculpture and installation art, this "sculptor to watch" (Aspen Sojourner magazine) unearths the beauty in the discarded, often working at the boundaries where the natural and human worlds collide. She is an Artist-in-Residence at Aspen Community School and has held previous residencies at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts and the Red Brick Center for the Arts. Her piece "Promise" was selected for the inaugural "Art of the State" statewide competition, juried by Dean Sobel and Collins Parsons. Her work has been exhibited in Denver and Aspen, Colorado. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. Lara lives with her husband and two boys at 8,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains.
